Adam is a Director and Solicitor, and Deputy Head of our Dispute Resolution team.

Adam is an experienced commercial litigator who helps his clients resolve complex disputes, particularly those relating to commercial contracts, or those arising between shareholders and directors.

As a Director and Deputy Head of the Dispute Resolution Team, Adam’s clients are typically companies or business owners that require assistance navigating corporate or commercial issues that are often technically complex and commercially sensitive. These include disputes relating to commercial contracts for goods or services, franchise agreements, loan and other funding arrangements, business protection claims involving breach of restrictive covenants and/or confidentiality, and claims arising from corporate transactions (such as warranty claims).

Adam has a particular interest and expertise in handling corporate disputes involving shareholders and directors, as well as other Companies Act claims.

He focuses on achieving timely, efficient and commercial resolutions for his clients, whether that means pursuing litigation, obtaining urgent injunctive relief, or helping them to negotiate settlement through the use of alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation, arbitration and without prejudice meetings.

At any given time, Adam will be handling a range of matters where High Court proceedings have been issued. He has extensive experience of successfully progressing claims in the Business and Property Courts. However, he is also an accredited ADR Group Mediator and uses his skill and insight of the mediation process to achieve effective commercial outcomes when negotiating on behalf of his clients.

Alongside the Department Head Jagdip Bains, Adam leads Talbots Dispute resolution Team, which was recognised in the Legal 500 2023 rankings as tier two for Commercial Litigation. The Legal 500 highlights client feedback which describes Adam as ‘a talented individual, with good commercial judgment, excellent technical ability and a very composed personality.’

Adam’s recent experience includes the following:

Obtaining a multi-million pound settlement for a minority shareholder who was subjected to unfairly prejudicial conduct arising from breaches of fiduciary duty by the directors/majority shareholders.

Assisting a shareholder in regaining control of a company by removing its errant directors and negotiating their removal from the business after the client inherited a controlling share in the company following the death of her husband.

Defending two directors and majority shareholders in a long-running family feud against allegations that they had breached their fiduciary duties and misappropriated company funds.

Acting for a client in multi-million pound High Court litigation relating to a claim for wrongful dismissal and breach of an enterprise management incentive scheme.

Acting for a franchisee in defense of alleged warranty claims arising from a share purchase agreement.
