Here at Talbots Law, we have industry leading Conveyancing teams who’ve won awards both regionally and nationally. Part of what makes us different is our commitment to both the training of new team members and having a comprehensive training system to aid career progression, legal and practical understanding of our career climbers, accessible to all colleagues across the Firm.
Our Training Academy was established in July 2022. Marni Stevens and Helen Connett are the Solicitors who research, write and deliver our face-to-face training. They also share information on new regulatory or procedural requirements or changes in property law, across the wider firm.
Marni qualified as a Solicitor in 1995 and has worked for practices across the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and for a brief period in Hong Kong. Marni is also dual qualified in both the post compulsory and primary education sectors.
Helen began her Legal Career in 2009 in Solihull and has been with Talbots since March 2011. Helen qualified as a Solicitor in August 2013. She has worked as part of our Dispute Resolution Team and our National Conveyancing Department. Helen joined Marni as part of Training Academy in October 2022.
January 2023 saw nine new employees embark on their Talbots learning journey as our first full cohort of Talbots Training Academy Inductees. This took place at our Waterfront Office.
Our first Talbots Training Academy cohort undertook six weeks theoretical, legal and practical training with Marni and Helen, before joining our teams in the National Conveyancing Department. This training enabled our first Training Academy cohort to have a secure understanding of how and why tasks are important and are undertaken throughout the conveyancing process, before joining their teams.
The Talbots Training Academy experience includes:
- Teaching from experienced, qualified Conveyancing professionals.
- Group training seminars, online webinars, written and verbal quizzes, assessments, self- directed study and professional discussions undertaken at our Waterfront or a satellite office.
- Access to our ‘Test’ Case Management system, enabling practical application of theoretical learning to tasks encountered throughout the various stages of a conveyancing transaction.
- Ongoing training sessions to aid continuing professional development for our career climbers.
- Access to centrally stored, approved training resources, accessible to all staff.
- Ongoing team and 1:1 support from our Trainers.
