We are proud to have advised Birmingham City Council on the acquisition of Botham Place in Erdington, a significant transaction that will provide 53 households with high-quality homes and support the Council’s ongoing commitment to tackling housing need across the city.
The former retirement living complex has now been brought into Council ownership and will be converted into much-needed accommodation for people in need, creating 53 modern homes in the heart of Erdington.
The Council’s Ambitious Housing Programme
The acquisition marks another milestone in Birmingham City Council’s housing programme, taking the number of homes acquired by the authority to more than 500 since 2022.
Ryan Ward, Acquisitions Consultant at Birmingham City Council, said:
“We are delighted to be able to bring this high-quality scheme into Council ownership, providing 53 households with a new, modern home in the heart of Erdington. This acquisition takes the number of new homes acquired to over 500 since 2022, and shows our commitment to delivering safe, warm homes to those who need them most. We’re not stopping there, with an additional 200 new build homes due to be delivered by the end this year, with the advice and support from Talbots.”
The transaction was led by Talbots Law’s Birmingham-based property team, headed up by Philip Luke with Khaled Harb also advising Birmingham City Council throughout the acquisition.
Khaled said:
“It was a pleasure to act for and to provide advice to Birmingham City Council on this large-scale landmark acquisition, which will be instrumental in providing 53 high-quality apartments for the people of Birmingham. We are honoured to be the Council’s chosen partner on this project, which has a genuine impact on the lives of those in the local community across our city and we look forward to maintaining the strong relationship we have forged with them on future projects.”
As an employee-owned law firm, we are proud to support projects that deliver meaningful, long-term benefits to local communities. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Council as it progresses its ambitious housing programme across Birmingham.
