After years of hard-fought litigation, our Contentious Trusts and Probate team are proud to have successfully concluded a longstanding estate dispute through mediation. This brings closure to a complex case that had spanned more than a decade.
Talbots came on board around four years ago, instructed by the Executors of an estate valued at approximately £1.3 million. The estate, made up predominantly of farmland and agricultural buildings, was facing a proprietary estoppel claim, a serious challenge that required strategic thinking, legal expertise, and a steady hand throughout.
As the case progressed, it became apparent that the situation was even more complex than initially thought. Several parcels of farmland had been fraudulently transferred out of the estate, prompting our team to issue an additional claim under Part 20 of the Civil Procedure Rules in order to recover the land.
Thanks to the unwavering efforts of our legal team, and following a full day and night of negotiations, a settlement was finally reached and signed at 3:30am. This resolution marks the end of a long and difficult journey for our clients, who can now move forward with peace of mind.
This case is a testament to the diligence, resilience, and legal expertise of our team. We’re proud to have secured a positive outcome for our clients, and to have continued standing alongside them in even the most challenging disputes.
If you’re facing a contentious probate or trust matter, our experienced team is here to help.
