Stuart is a Director and Solicitor in the Insolvency team based at our Stourbridge office, specialising in personal and corporate insolvency. His clients are varied and include insolvency practitioners, accountants, SMEs, creditors and individuals: Stuart is able to provide advice on all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency with a strong focus on contentious matters including antecedent transaction claims and bankruptcy/compulsory winding up. He regularly deals with matters in the County Courts and the High Court, from initial instruction through to trial and appeal.
After studying law at the University of Sheffield and subsequently the legal practice course at the College of Law Birmingham, Stuart completed his training contract and qualified as a solicitor in 2011. He is an associate member of R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
In the early stages of his career Stuart predominantly acted for clearing banks recovering unsecured and secured debts, primarily mortgage and business loans secured by way of personal guarantees. This led to a period of secondment to RBS Group’s business recoveries department in South Yorkshire. In 2015 he moved to a smaller practice to specialise in contentious personal and corporate insolvency matters, gaining experience of acting for insolvency practitioners, directors and creditors in all forms of insolvency processes.
In his spare time Stuart enjoys travel, music and sports. He is a qualified open water scuba diver and enjoys pursuing this interest whilst on holiday in warmer climates. He is also a keen runner and cyclist, has completed several half marathons and regularly attends his local parkruns. Stuart is a regular Glastonbury festival attendee (when he’s been lucky enough to get tickets) and frequently attends gigs with friends and family. Stuart is also a cricket fan, attending matches involving Warwickshire and England when spare time allows.
