People make organisations work. That is true of small, family-owned businesses right through to multinationals. And while the scale of the people management differs from place to place, the need for human resources expertise is the same. That’s where Talbots Law comes in.
We are the team that helps clients handle the day-to-day legal and practical issues involving staff. As employment law and HR specialists, we handle everything from one-off queries about payroll, to disciplinaries, to large-scale redundancies. It’s about giving you the answers, the direction and the hands-on support you need, when you need it.
Being an employer can be tricky, we know that. The right move isn’t always obvious. And the pace of development in employment law challenges everyone – lawyers included – to keep up. You can trust us to keep you ahead.
Our Employment & HR Team
Why ask Talbots Law for human resources advice?
Like you, we are business people. We understand that when there’s a problem, it needs to be tackled straightaway. And it needs to be tackled decisively, in your best interests, and with as little negative fallout as possible.
That’s what we do, every time. Our team will understand the context in which the advice is needed; what has happened and what it means for your business. We’ll also understand your concerns and the things that are important to you in getting a resolution. It’s far more than us telling you what the law says. It’s a collaborative approach that sees us designing safe routes out of situations, and helping you follow them.
And we don’t just step in when you have a question or a difficult set of circumstances to sort out. We also offer the full range of employment contracts, policies, procedures and employer handbooks that ensure your business is not just legally compliant but that it’s running smoothly and efficiently. Human Resources FAQ
We’re not big enough to justify employing a human resources person. Could we just call on you from time to time instead?
Yes, definitely. We work with lots of clients who rely on us on an as and when basis. We could offer you a retainer arrangement if that would work for you, and we’re quite flexible on the levels of support we’re able to offer each week, month, or quarter. Alternatively, you could instruct us to advise you on issues as they crop up. We’re in your hands. Let’s talk it through.
I’m worried that we’re not on top of our paperwork. I know that there have been lots of changes to employment law recently and I don’t think we’ve kept up. Could we hire you to do an overhaul?
Yes. You’re right in saying that the law has taken some new twists and turns. We’d be very happy to send one of our human resources solicitors to spend some time with you and go through your employment contracts, policies and procedures. These do need to be updated from time to time – but don’t worry, you won’t be the only employer to be in this position! The sooner you get back on track the better, so call us and we’ll get a date in the diary.
At Talbots Law, we see ourselves as specialists in human resources. That’s why we’ll be at hand to answer all your HR queries and questions. Just give us a call on 0800 118 1500.
